Well, here you go-finally an update from the Kiemele family. There has been plenty to blog about, and time (usually at work) to blog, but something in my brain tells me that a post is incomplete without pictures and thus, the roadblock! The pictures are the reason for the delay, but I decided to forego the pics and just post!
The biggest news is that Rob and I are expecting a new baby in June. Yes, we were trying. No, we don't know the gender. No, we are not going to find out the gender. When I know, you'll know! The same goes for names. The only thing I can say with certainty is that if it's a girl, her middle name will be "Michaela", which is my middle name. The actual due date is June 16, but since I had such a *fabulous* 36 hour labor with Cody, which ended with an emergency C-section (don't get me started on that traumatizing event), I will have a scheduled C-section roughly a week before my due date, around June 9. This works out pretty well with my work schedule since that will be the last week of school and the kids will be crazy and out of control. They will not be dressing out for PE anymore, which just adds to the chaos. Then add in the heat for that time of the year and it's just insane. So, darn, I guess I'll have to miss some days of work!
Cody still doesn't really have a clue as to what this means for him. If you ask him if he's going to be a big brother, he'll tell you very emphatically, "Noooooo! I a boy!" It's pretty funny. He's starting to notice my growing belly, but he doesn't get that he can't just jump on it anymore! Cody continues to be daddy's little boy! He wants to hang out with Dada all the time! I love it when Rob is around in the mornings on the weekends because I get to sleep in a little since Cody doesn't care what I'm doing since it's Dada he wants to play with!
This pregancy has been very different from my experience with Cody. I had pretty severe nausea through week 20 and I'm only at week 22 now! I actually had to get a prescription to help me through the day. I was taking it 3 times a day, every 8 hours! But it did help so that was good. Now if only I could find something for my awful headaches I would be great! I am getting big so fast this time! I am so thankful to my mommy friends who have passed on maternity clothes! I didn't ever need a pair of maternity jeans before so I'm thankful to have been given so much! Of course I was super tired for the first trimester and I'm finally starting to feel a little more "myself" again!
I've also had another big change, this one in the area of my sorority volunteering. For the past five years or so, I had been advising the Alpha Delta Pi chapter at my alma mater, Cal State San Bernardino. I love being involved with the college women and watching them grow and mature from immature teens to self-sufficient and successful women. I guess it's the teacher in me! Anyway, in December I was offered a position with the International (USA and Canada) organization. I am now a Collegiate Province Director overseeing four Alpha Delta Pi chapters: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and my chapter at San Bernardino. This is a good move for me because it will definitely be challenging! The good news is that I do not have to be as "hands-on" as I was with the CSUSB chapter, meaning I don't have to go to a lot of meetings and other events. Another good part is that I am able to do most of the "work" from home via email or telephone calls. I will have an opportunity to visit my out of state chapters, but I don't have to visit often! I know many people don't understand why I do this, the only thing I can say is that it keeps me busy and keeps me involved with so many of my friends and something that I love. I don't expect many of you to understand, I don't really think that Rob does, but it makes me happy and that's all that matters to me!
